Space Clearing

When we clear stale or negative energies from our environment or our aura we are creating Sacred Space and we naturally feel better as a result. After clearing the stale, stagnant energy it's important to fill the space with positive energy. Then, we will find it easier to think, to dream, to breathe and to trust because the space around us has a profound effect on the way we feel. There are a number of ways we can transform the energy around us:

SMUDGING with SAGE
Traditionally used by the Native Americans, Sage is considered sacred by them and has been used natural sage bushfor generations in the "smudging" ceremony. The smell of sage will remind you of the desert and the sacredness of life.
It  has become very popular in recent times because of it's potent ability to cleanse and purify spaces, so it is a good choice for any home or office where the atmosphere has become stale or stagnant.  Sage smoke  has a very strong, pungent smell and therefore clears dense, stagnant energy very effectively.

How to use a smudgestick:
smudgesticksJust place the smudgestick in a fire-proof dish or container partially filled with sand or salt, which will hold the smudgestick upright in the bowl. Remove the yarn, light the tip, blow it out and direct the smoke around your body or fill the space  you wish to "clear" with the smoke.  You may also set the wand in the container and use a feather or your hand to direct the smoke.

Alternatively you can remove the yarn and break off a section of the smudgestick and burn the loose leaves in a fireproof bowl. When "clearing" a house, complete one room at a time.
Anytime that you are burning herbs it's very important to take care that none of the burning leaves or sparks land on the carpet, furnishings or clothes.  Never leave burning  herbs unattended and use water to make sure that they are completely extinguished when you're finished.

SMUDGING WITH PALO SANTO

Palo Santo is a mystical tree which grows on the coast of South and Central America and is related to Frankincense, Myrrh and Copal.  In Spanish, the name literally means “Holy Wood”.  It is part of the citrus family and has sweet notes of pine, mint and lemon.  Palo Santo is enjoyed by many for its energetically cleansing and healing properties similar to Sage and Cedar.  It is a strong medicine that has been popularized for its heavenly presence in keeping energies grounded and clear.  It provides an uplifting scent that raises your vibration in preparation for meditation and allows for a deeper connection to the Source of all creation.

How to burn Palo Santo:

Use a candle, match or lighter to ignite your stick of Palo Santo.  Hold at about a 45 degree angle pointing the tip down toward the flame.  Allow it to burn for about 30 secs to 1 minute and then blow out.  Move about your workspace, home, car, bathroom or anywhere you would like to clear the energy.  The rich smell will also bring peace and clarity to the moment along with good feelings .  When finished, place the stick in a fire proof bowl of metal, glass or clay.  The glow will end on its own unless you blow on the ember which will keep the smoke going.  Always use caution and respect when working with fire.

BELLS

Tibetan BellBells are excellent tools to use for Space Clearing. They have the ability to dispel accumulated, stagnant energy by producing a  sound that permeates the space - the resonating tone of a bell increases the flow of energy and restores vibrational balance.

Tibetan Bells

One of the best bells to use for Space Clearing is the Tibetan Bell, which is called a ghanta. Originating in Tibet, these highly symbolic bells are now created in India and Nepal by Tibetan refugees. Every part of a Tibetan bell is symbolic, and they are richly decorated. The bell is always accompanied by a dorje. The dorje represents the male principle, power, salvation, and the vitality of lightening. the bell itself represents the feminine principle, wisdom, and the great void. Together, the ghanta and the dorje are thought to restore balance in an environment, because they activate the two opposing, yet harmonious, forces in the universe: yin and yang. To use these two tools together, you ring the bell while keeping the dorje in your pocket, on a Blessing Tray, or in your hand. They create a sacred unity that can harmonise the two promordial creative forces of life.

Tibetan bells can also be played by circling a wooden mallet around the circumference of the bell. Playing a bell in this way creates a powerful vibrating sound that resonates in all directions.

Purification with a Bell

Stand at the entrance to the room. Hold the bell next to your heart, and imagine pure joy and love filling it. Then slowly begin to walk around the circumference of the room. As you walk, ring or strike the bell, and know that your intention is being carried on the vibrations of sound into every corner of the space.

Blessing with a Bell

When the purification stage is complete, the room should seem sparkling and bright. Then, in order to call forth angels, blessings, and spiritual life force into the room, ring the bell three times. Wait until the last ring has completely stilled; then in the moment of silence that follows, imagine golden light filling the entire space. The room has now been blessed.

This information on bells was taken from Denise Linn's book  "Space Clearing A-Z".

SINGING BOWLS

Singing Bowls (also known as Tibetan or Himalayan Singing Bowls, rin gongs, medicine bowls, Tibetan bowls, or suzu gongs in Japan) are  a type of bell, specifically classified as a standing bell. Rather than hanging inverted or attached to a handle, standing bells sit with the bottom surface resting either on your fingers or a small, specially designed cushion. The sides and rim of the bowls vibrate to produce sound when played by striking or circling  with a wooden mallet.  "the singing bowls were originally used in Tibet by shamans of the Bon-Pot religion which preceded the Buddhist religion Tibetan singing bowls were used for the invocation of good spirits for the harvest, for curing disease, for banishing evil spirits aqnd negative energies." (Chris Michell, Tibetan Chakra Meditations CD)

Today they are employed worldwide both within and without spiritual traditions, for meditation, music, relaxation,  personal well-being, and for religious practice.

Singing Bowls are excellent healing tools, the resonating sound creates a deep meditative state and balances  the chakras or energy centres of your body. They are used in health care by oncologists, psychotherapists, massage therapists, recovery, stress and meditation specialists. Choosing a singing bowl is a very personal experience, it is recommended that you try playing various bowls until  one resonates with you.

We have a range of Singing Bowls at Heavenly Energies which you can experience for yourself.

TINGSHA

pic of tingshasTingsha or Tingshaw are small Tibetan Cymbals or chimes that are used by Tibetan Buddhists in ceremonies or rituals.  They are 2 metal cymbals held together by a leather cord and when they are struck together they create a pure resonating tone  that sounds like a sweet sounding "ting," hence the name.  They are generally played before a meditation to summon, focus and clear the mind and at the end of meditation to bring one back to the present and everyday life. These days, because of their pure, sweet sound they are widely used in an increasing variety of ways - they are used by feng shui practitioners for cleansing and clearing space, by Reiki or energy healers or massage therapists for the same purpose on a personal level,  and by yoga instructors to call everyone back to everyday reality.

Tingsha are easy to play - simply hold the leather thong in both hands and allow the rim of cymbal to gently strike the rim of the other. This will allow the cymbals to chime with their beautiful, resonating, clear, pure sound. Simply allow the sound to resonate until it stops completely before the cymbals are struck again.

WATER FEATURES

Moving water is excellent Feng Shui, it refreshes the Ch'i and is soothing, both mentally and emotionally. A small water feature in the home or office is very beneficial and will quickly recharge the energy. Our water fountains are enhanced with crystals to add their special qualities.

WINDCHIMES

Windchimes are also an excellent way to enliven the energy, stopping things from getting stale and creating  a harmony of sound. Small windchimes only need a slight breeze to create soft, tinkling bell-like sounds. These are an excellent remedy, just like a water fountain, in any area where the energy tends to get stuck, because you get both sound and movement.

CRYSTAL SUNCATCHERS

Hanging a crystal suncatcher in a sunny window will  create auspicious energy while at the same time creating  beautiful rainbows in the room whenever the sunlight touches the crystal.  Seeing these rainbows dancing on the walls or ceiling brings joy everytime. They are perfect for a baby's room. Crystal  suncatchers can also be hung in a dark corner or in a long hallway to dispel negative energy.
