Patchouli Oil is  earthy, warm and sweet and is traditionally known for its soothing effects on the nervous system, especially for those who suffer from fatigue and / or a weakened immune system, caused by overwork and chronic anxiety.   It helps to relieve tension and anxiety by harmonising the mind where there is overthinking and worry and instilling  balance and grounding.

It can also help one to get more in touch with their physical body and their sensuality and creative expression.  With its rich spicy  and musky aroma, it is a relaxing aphrodisiac, similar to Jasmine and Ylang Ylang.

Patchouli Essential Oil has been used for centuries in the traditional medicine of Japan, China, other parts of South-East Asia.  It is both antiseptic and anit-inflammatory and its natural emollient properties combine to be effective for  moisturising and nourishing for a variety of skin conditions such as acne, dermatitis and eczema - it helps to rejuvenate the skin when it is cracked and sore. It is also effective for insect bites.

Light Patchouli essential oil is paler and clearer  than dark Patchouli essential oil due to the fact that it is distilled in stainless steel vats  as opposed to the dark Patchouli essential oil which is distilled in cast iron vats which makes it more heavy and pungent. 

Patchouli essential oil blends well with Orange, Frankincense, Geranium, Lavender, Myrrh, Sandalwood, Clary Sage and Bergamot.

Uses:

Use in a vaporisor, oil burner  or diffuser. 

For massage dilute  the Patchouli in a suitable carrier oil at 2-4%.  Facially 1% dilution is recommended.

Can also be added to creams, lotions, handwash, soap and candles.
