SHUNGITE

 Shungite is an amazing stone which has been called a "Wonder Stone." It is described on the internet as the "most powerful stone ever discovered."

Shungite is a Precambrian carbonaceous rock of organic origin, which is found only in the Lake Onega area, Karelia, Russia. Its name comes from the small village Shun'ga where it was first discovered. Scientists estimate the age of Shungite to be almost 2 billion years old. Though it is similar in appearance to coal, it is found in very ancient layers of the Earth's crust that were formed when there were no life forms on the earth. Shungite contains the recently discovered "Fullerenes" or "Bucky Balls." Fullerenes were one of the scientific sensations of the 20th century and can be used in medicine as anti-oxidants. Named after  Buckminster Fuller, the great architect, designer, author, visionary and futurist, this closed hollow cage of 60 or more carbon atoms that form a fullerene molecule, resembles the geodesic domes created by him.  Fullerenes are found in very minute quantities in nature, usually formed by lightening strikes. How they came to be present in the Shungite mineral is a mystery.  Shungite is the only known mineral to contain fullerenes.
